Meet the founders

CapRok was founded by Joe Lizzio and Rick Caplan who had worked together at Citigroup in the Fixed Income Division for many years.

Rick Caplan has over 20 years of experience in the origination, structuring, trading and distribution of complex financial products. Prior to founding CapRok, Rick was a Managing Director and co-head of the U.S. Structured Credit Products businesses, first at Citigroup and then RBS Greenwich Capital, where he ran a broad ranging business focused on all aspects of various complex credit market oriented products that involved many different asset classes. In these roles, he was principally responsible for the development of several original product offerings that were broadly distributed across a varied fixed income investor base. Rick began his career practicing corporate law at Jones Day. His practice specialized in securitization and derivatives, and he primarily represented banks and other providers of capital.

Rick earned a B.S. from New York University Stern School of Business and J.D. from New York University School of Law.

Joe Lizzio brings over 20 years of Wall Street experience, relationships and extensive structured rate and credit product knowledge to CapRok. In late 2003, Joe transitioned from his role of Managing Director, co-heading Citigroup’s industry-leading Supranational/Agency/Sovereign debt “SAS” business to jumpstarting the Global Structured Credit Products effort as the Product Sales Manager. The following two years saw Citigroup’s client focused Structured Credit platform leap past many competitors in market share, client penetration, transactions and profitability. Joe was also charged with co-running Citigroup’s U.S. fixed income sales effort in 2004. He managed over 175 institutional salespeople serving 1,500+ clients in virtually all fixed income products.

Joe earned a B.S. from Cornell University.
